Xbox 20/20 dropped by Microsoft1 minute read

Microsoft has announced the cancellation of Xbox 20/20 – the monthly show that was dedicated to bringing gaming news to the frontline.

2020 is going to be a phenomenal year for Microsoft with some fantastic new dynamics brought to the industry. As Microsoft put it, 2020 is going to be a once-in-a-generation year for gamers.

Not only will we see a new generation of consoles and a new generation of games, but we will also be experiencing new ways to play this content.

Microsoft decided that the removal of the Xbox 20/20 updates was the correct path. They felt it implied that they would be releasing information in one way only – a dedicated monthly show. But now they are taking a more intimate approach with shows, YouTube content, partnering and Xbox Wire. The flexibility of these media types means that the news and updates leading up to the launch of the Xbox Series X should be obtainable by everyone.

Microsoft quietly drops Xbox 20/20 branding in order to be more ...

Even though Microsoft have made this move they are still standing by several goals for 2020:

  • The Holiday launch of Xbox Series X and Halo Infinite
  • Titles for the Xbox Series X and Game Pass from all 15 Xbox Game Studio teams
  • Making all the major releases available on Game Pass for PC at launch such as Halo InfiniteWasteland 3Minecraft Dungeons and of course, Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • The expansion of Project xCloud into new countries and the eventual integration into Game Pass later this year

Without the Xbox 20/20 showcases there will still be lots of information coming out of Microsoft within the following months. There will surely be some suprises down the line too.

Xbox Series X launches this Holiday.
