It is official – Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello are officially back for a game inspired by it’s retro ancestry. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has been revealed by Dometu and Tribute Games in an awe-inspiring trailer designed to make you shout Cowabunga!
Dotemu is the publisher who was responsible for Streets of Rage 4 and of course Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. Just watching the reveal trailer shows signs of Streets of Rage whilst also paying a massive homage to the original line of Turtles games. There is a feeling of titles such as the 1989 arcade game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and of course the acclaimed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time released in 1991 in arcades and then 1992 on the Super Nintendo.
There is an arrangement of classic enemies during the reveal trailer such as Bebop and Rocksteady as well as the iconic footclan. Classic locations have been brought back as well as the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song, sung by Mike Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle.
“With Bebop and Rocksteady amassing gizmos to support Krang and Shredder’s latest scheme, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge finds the turtles battling through a breathless tour of iconic TMNT locations to thwart their nemeses’ most diabolical plan yet. Armed with shell-shocking new abilities built on a foundation of classic brawling mechanics, the gang are in for an exhilarating, Foot Clan-stomping romp leading them through the sewers and bustling boroughs of New York City all the way to Dimension X!”Dotemu statement
The game has not yet been given a release date, nor a console or range of platforms for which it will launch on. However rest assured that this invoking of the classic 1987 design will be a huge success wherever it lands.
