Electronic Arts have announced that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be coming to out home consoles and PC’s soon. The game will be a remaster of the original game from 2007 that was launched on Xbox 360 consoles. Since then the franchise has grown with the releases of three further games, the last being Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017.
There was already a plea to Electronic Arts to remaster the original game and not only are they doing this, but they have stated that they were remastering the original trilogy also.
The official trailer shows some stunning remodelling and proves that this game will be as big a hit as it was in 2007 in the modern era. The Legendary Edition will contain “single-player base content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, plus promo weapons, armors, and packs – all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD”.
“Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form. “Electronic Arts
Recently there has also been announcement of Mass Effect Legendary Cache which is a collectors edition of the game. The collectors edition boasts a Steel Case, Morality spinner pin, N7 acceptance letter, two canvas art prints and an amazing 1:1 scale replica helmet.
The helmet is wearable, and has been created using 3D models from the in-game graphics. It contains a carbon fibre texture and LED lights that illuminate the visor in either blue or red lighting. The price tag for the Legendary Cache is around $149 with a UK price and release yet to be officially confirmed. One thing to take into consideration however is that the Legendary Cache does not include a copy of the game.
The game will launch Spring 2021 for the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 and will include forward compatibilities with Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
