Alien Breed was based on the movies Alien and Aliens, as well as games from the 8-bit era Laser Squad and Paradroid. During the game the player must descend various levels of a lift, destroying each floor above them as they progress. The player can also purchase weapons from the space station’s Intex terminals. In some versions of the game these terminals featured a clone of the game Pong.
Alien Breed was released on the Commodore Amiga and received critical acclaim. CU Amiga scored the game 90% and the television series GamesMaster gave it 70%. The game received an expanded version and release in 1992 with Alien Breed Special Edition ’92 which was so popular it remained in British charts for over a year.
